Black diamond is the name given to the world-famous black Périgord truffle. Next to the white Alba truffle, the Périgord truffle is the highest quality of all truffle varieties. It has an unmistakable, wild-animal, strong smell of mushroom, earth and musk. The aroma is much more intense than that of its less expensive counterparts. A kilogram of Périgord truffle costs 1500 euros.
